It's been closer to 10 years and Nikon still does not have the depth of

IS
lenses Canon does. Having to work with the antique The F mount makes

them
more expensive to boot.

Tony,

I've only been here a short while, but comments like this continue to
reinforce your bias. They also, to the observer, reinforce that you're
either short-sighted or stupid.

Or both.

While I don't always agree with Tony - and he needs no apologist - I
have to say I agree with him on this one. Nikon seem to me to have been
playing catch-up - and not entirely successfully - for some time. Even
for a Canon user like myself, this is not entirely welcome, as the spur
of competition is what drives faster progress; I would hate to see Nikon
go under.

If you want to express a contrary view, I'm sure we would be interested
- and be more impressed than with a "slagging off" post.

And you don't have a clue how to quote.

This seems to be a consequence of some flaw in OE which allows users to
top-post and then puts all the quoted test below the sig line in
"proper" newsreaders. This means it always gets cut off and the rest of
us can't then reply and have the quoted text there in our reply. I have
mentioned it before - I don't know whether the fault is mainly in OE or
in the way Tony uses it, but it is annoying.

The fault is entirely that of OE, if I forget to cut and paste replies,
that's how it ends up. Netscape had an option to reply at the top or
bottom, OE has no option.

That confirms what I always thought about OE - it's crap!

It's adequate as an E-mail program, but for doing news you really need
a program designed for doing newsgroups. DOH!

You are right, there, Randall. But since my total NG participation is
limited to this NG, rpe35mm, rpm and abpn-a, I'm not sure it's worth
pursuing.
