Intermittent Card Reader Problem
jim evans wrote:
About one time in 5 when I insert a camera card into my card reader the computer does not recognize/see it. When this happens I have to disconnect the USB cable and reconnect it (sometimes twice). The connector had not been touched or moved in any way before this happens. This condition has persisted through two computers, two card readers and two cameras. What causes this and how can I correct it? jim One explanation I read recently on a NG is that when there are too many USB devices drawing power, the USB controller will shut some off. When that happens to me, I try to unplug the device, wait a few seconds, and plug it in again. That sometimes works. Sometimes I have to reboot. |
