One reason cheap FF cameras are a double-edged sword

You buy a cheap FF (used one, cheap new one) but then you need to factor-in the absolute need (to get the most out of it) for very expensive lenses. Otherwise, you end up with a crippled camera. Also, don't believe the fairy stories about lenses working better with FF than APS. Supporting FF right out to the edge of the frame, with a lens not stopped down considerably is not a cheap undertaking. One poor guy here couldn't even get sharp images at f/11.0 with this cheap (relative to good FF lenses) 28mm f/2.0 lens. Because of the extreme need to stop-down to get any kind of decent image, there goes the FF high ISO advantage. http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/56501405 That's because he bought a Sony lens, not because it's an FX camera. |
