Default Olympus, Sony, Canon, Fuji, Nikon Local Distributor Info Request

Hi all,
I need some help on finding "authorized" local distributor for
Olympus, Sony, Canon, Fuji and Nikon near the New York or New Jersey
area. I plan to start a reselling business, any insight to this is
greatly appreciated. Thanks

Regards,
Mike

Contact the companies directly. If your business plan makes sense to them
they will refer you to their sales rep for your area. There really isn't
sufficient margin in most photo equipment to support a "distributor" layer
in the food chain. In fact, when you see the difference between typical
online selling prices and net cost prices, you may wonder why anyone is in
the business at all.

If you decide to proceed, be prepared to place fairly substantial minimum
orders with each of the companies and expect to have to buy minimum
quantities of certain items to get the best prices. Nikon isn't going to
sell you one or two cameras at a time. If you want to be a dealer, the
companies want to to be serious about it.

There are any number of better ways to lose money than as a small photo
retailer.

Been there - albeit a long time ago - when it was still a marginally
profitable business.
