Actually, many do not care for either elists or usenet but prefer "web
boards" At least the web board and the elist have SOME capability of
being filtered by a moderator but I have only heard of one newsgroup
which was filtered and that was rec.guns. filtering that 1200
messages a day forum took full time work in behalf of the
owner/moderator. Not even sure that it still survives today since the
filtering/moderation started.

point is, my list is for CANON DSLRs ONLY. as an experienced
listowner, since I have been doing this for about 20 yrs, my
listmembers will never be subjected to any malposting unless it be by
some mole activity.

that freedom from all the distractions, flames, negatives such as off
topic posting, etc has caused at least two of my lists to grow to over
900 members each. I think that the same can be offered to the members
of RPD who are just thoroughly fed up with only about 10 posts out of
perhaps 600 a day which are of any value.

Just as with rec.guns, there was an immense amount of valuable
information but you had to go thru about a mountain of peanut hulls to
find 15 or 20 useful messages.

This list is just NOT worth the aggravation, and it is really sad that
a few people can ruin it for everyone else.

How many times are you planning on posting this? Hold on. Lionel is working
on setting up a modified version of RPD.

I have hopes that'll be sucessful, and I wish Chas' group well. May sign
up myself, as I use Canon equip, mostly, but I like the give and take,
the disputes about stuff related to photography, and a broader guage
than just one manufacturer.

I enjoy a good Troll from time to time, but what this group has
experienced goes way beyond trolling, and for all but seasoned
usenetters, a pretty unworkable patchwork of noise among a few strong
signals.

Since you are starting your own list - why do you persist in cluttering up
this one with your stuff?
