I intend to sell the above mentioned lens.

This is a fast apochromatic lens with a large fluorite and UD
elements, a built-in and attachable hood as can be seen he

It is very sharp, manual aperture, manual focus, in good mechanical
and cosmetical condition. There are a few dust particles but no
fungus.

It has a focus confirmation adapter for EOS, but can be used on other
camera brands with different M42 adapters

I've seen the prices for 300 f2.8 lens as low as $500 for a tokina
lens and as high as $2500 for older canon SSC version.

How much should I ask for it?

Thank you for any info.

Hi there. I'll try to help.

I take your post to mean that this is a Canon FD mount lens with an FD - M42
adaptor.
I also assume that this is not an "L" lens.

A price here in the UK for a 300 f2.8 L lens would be £500 - £850 depending
on condition - and that is the "L" lens, remember.

I've found a London shop (Canon specialist) selling FD 300 F4 for £329 -
£499 (sounds high to me).

Of course, you have to find someone who has an FD body or an M42 body ...
the majority of people want autofocus these days.

Have you looked on ebay?
