That is a good reason to carry insurance to prevent acts of violence when
engaged in candid photography.

I always carry that sort of insurance, but I'm fortunate to live in an
area where I still can. Lots of people aren't so lucky. including
probably most of the people in your state, and at least a few people
who post here. Vote Trump... even if you hate him.

Must be great to live in such a free country that you have to carry a gun to protect yuorself.

That comment can't possibly make sense to you. Do you think that there
is a correlation between the level of freeedom in a given area and the
desire to protect yourself - to not be helpless?

Alfred Molon:
It's amazing how religious people in the USA are on this
democrats vs republicans thing. Here in Germany, whether
the christian democrats (CDU) or the socialist democrats
(SPD) are in power not much is changing.

But in the USA if one party is in power the supporters
of the other party are deeply disappointed, i.e. take
the matter very seriously.

Germany doesn't have a party led by Satan incarnate. We do. That party
has the avowed purpose of undoing the social and economic progress that
the USA has made in the past 243 years under the motto "Take America
Back." It is a party for which the very word "progress" is anathema.
Many of us take that very seriously.

Yup!

Yup! The GOP is no longer the party of Lincoln.

Many of us take that very seriously.

Yup!

It does and stats can prove it.

define that freedom first.

It was your word. You define it.

I'd rather live in a place where I don't need to carry a weapon to protect myself.

That's a rather universal desire, but it is not always an option for
everyone.

But how do those in the USA protect themselves from the recent and continiuing mass shooting ?

There is no way to stop them from happening. And there is only one way
to stop one after it has started. Unfortunately, the left would rather
leave the kids helpless in their schools. They would rather the kids
be dead, than be "uncomfortable" in the presence of the good guys with
guns.

Utter nonsense. When I see evidence that guns have gone fully
autonomous and are roaming the streets shooting random people, I'll
blame the guns for violent crime. Until then, I'll blame demographics.

I wouldn't be surprised if the left wasn't behind most of the school shootings.
We should we protect our school children the same way we protect our money in
the bank.

We live in a predator world. You can try to defend
yourself or be somebody's lunch.

I don't know if you're trolling, but what's usually behind school
shootings is mental illness, not politics.

No, I'm not trolling and I realize mental illness is a problem. Why do we have
more homicidal illness now than 40 years ago? I known a lot of mentally ill
people but none of them were interested in killing anyone. I think politics is
behind every thing. The timing on these events
is beyond chance.

Being a retired LEO in California helps, I just have to requalify annually
with my carry weapons, that Kimber 1911, and a Glock 23.

Vote Trump... even if you hate him.

All I am going to say is, I didn’t vote for him in 2016, and I have no
intention of voting for him in 2020. The man is seriously dangerous, and
threatens the survival of the Union.

I don't intend to drag politics into this group, but as you might
guess, i think every credible Dem candidate is a serious threat to
this country, not Trump. At the same time, you are clearly not an
idiot, so I'm sure you have at least thought things through, and have
simply come to different conclusions than me.

Sad to say we are on different sides in this mess.

All I can hope for is that more Trump supporters will come to their senses
before November 2020. I truly believe that our democracy will not be able to
withstand a second Trump term, and all the corruption he will foist on us.

As an erudite member of the group could you elaborate? I'm not a big Trump fan but
as for as the left wing candidates I've seen a a more believable bunch of clowns
amongst
a group of used car salesmen. Sanders or Biden is going to save us with open
borders
and higher taxes? Really, what can we expect from the Soros supported left? A
divine Utopia?
