Default Grand Canyon Trip advice

I have a 15 day float trip throgh the grand canyon planned for may. I am
going to bring my 4x5 and I have a few questions that posters may be
able to answer.

I am flying to Vegas and I am wondering should I load film or keep it in
unopened factory box?

Exposed film. How to get it back?

How should I get my camera/lenses through, carry-on or baggage check?

Since this is a full trip throgh the canyon, what highlights should I
look for? Any good guidebooks recommended?

Thanks for any help.

Dale
