The camera comapnies need to learn that image quality should come before more megapixels and gimmiks. John |

Face recognition isn't a gimmick: without it, P&S AF systems tend to find something in the background with more contrast than your human subject and focus on that. (Of course, I don't know if the face recognition trick actually solves this problemg, but assuming it does, it's a great idea.) David J. Littleboy Tokyo, Japan |

Both are relatively new. Look for reviews of these. The S5 is an all-in- one with a great long zoom, about $500. The 1DS Mark III is a DSLR Body about $4,500. |

Put the autofocus point on the face, lock focus, and recompose. Jeeze... why not look for a camera that goes out and makes photos fo you while you sit on the sofa and drink beer. Yoshi |

The above steps are far above what the average shooter can or will do. [no one here is average, btw, sorta like Lake Wobegone]. If it works well, it'd be a welcome feature for at least some sophisticated photographers. Er, landscape and product shooters excepted. -- john mcwilliams |

If face recognition isn't a gimmick, then it's one step above which is a "questionable feature". |
