The ugliest Leica M7 you'll ever lay eyes upon

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...Fencoding=UTF8 Ah... The typical Leica "user"...who is more concerned about how nice it looks...than whether one can actually capture images with it. Now to all of you REAL Leica **users**...you can disregard this post. But lets face it, folks. -The ratio of Leicas that are actually used...compared with those that are merely "worn" isn't all too positive. Its a shame, too, because they really are nice pieces of equipment. It just strikes me as funny how many comments about them have to do with their color...their leather...their emblem...etc. There are other examples of this phenomenon, though...so Leica doesn't have a corner on this... Example: I have a Sony laptop (something I never imagined wanting to own due to their irritating business practices and horrid customer service) and the Sony forum (at notebookreview.com) has a high ratio of people who spend a good deal of effort talking about how to get the preferred "color" this, and the preferred "casing visual effect" that...none of which has anything whatever to do with the technical capabilities of the units! The funny thing is...the Sony SZ Premium notebook series is one amazing machine, with huge and unique power to suit my purposes like no other laptop on the market. -It's just that a lot of Sony buyers don't seem to care about that for actual use. They are too busy comparing (literally!) how much attention it gets them at Starbucks. -They actually POST about this!! Methinks there are a lot of Sony notebook buyers with Leicas around their necks...but no film. Do I paint a grim picture...or do I exaggerate? -MarkČ -- Images (Plus Snaps & Grabs) by MarkČ at: www.pbase.com/markuson |

Methinks there are a lot of Sony notebook buyers with Leicas around their necks...but no film. Do I paint a grim picture...or do I exaggerate? Let's see: My M6 is covered with gaffers tape, so that no magic names or red dots are showing. Result: Looks like some old camera held together by tape (very nonthreatening). On the trek I just came back from, putting the 90mm lens back in the hip belt, I missed and the 90mm took a nose dive from waist height onto a concrete sidewalk, landing on the capped rubber shade. No apparent damage at all (apart from a slightly mangled lens cap), though I might get the centering checked... |

Hmm, why don't you just get a FED or Zorki badge to glue over the top, and preferably gold plate the camera and claim it was a 1931 Olympics special edition? -- http://www.petezilla.co.uk |

Reminds me of the guy who owned a bike shop in the Palo Alto area of California. He had a very nice hand made frame bike, but he painted it with khaki colored paint, applied by hand with a cheap brush, so it looked like a cheap Schwinn.....That way, it's chances of being stolen were markedly diminished...... |
