Photo quality printer recommendation
Looking for sub £110 photo printer (4800 dpi preferably HP), but it is a
minefield out there. Can anyone recommend best model for my money or point me to a site where I can do a side-by-side comparison. TIA |

We bought a top of the range Epson, after a few months it started to drop ink all over the prints.
Epson UK were of no help at all; couldn't be less interested. We had to junk it and we bought a Canon, the difference is astounding, as is the customer service. We'll never buy another Epson Product again. -- "BIGEYE" wrote in message ... Looking for sub £110 photo printer (4800 dpi preferably HP), but it is a minefield out there. I bought the HP 9680 and love it. It has pigmented inks and archival
qualities of 100 years plus. I then bought the Photosmart 7760 printer $199 w/59 cartridge and it does phenomenal color and B&W. I was in a group show recently with 51 other photographers that were equally amazed that the 11x14 prints I hung were inkjets and not conventional papers. I print on Ilford Galleria or HP Premium Matte Plus paper for both printers. The wide format version 9650 $399 has less features than the 9680 $499 us. The 9680 came with a PS RIP. |

Why would you junk it? Wasn't it still under warranty?

Robert is either a troll, a shill, incredibly unlucky, incredibly
stupid or most likely a combination of the above. Our 5 1/2 year-old Stylus Color 800 is still going strong, and we just upgraded to an R800 and have been completely blown away by the quality. Stunning. As for HP, the entire organization is a landmine since Fiorina took over and started gutting the company. And Canon? Great cameras, decent printers. Can't hold a candle to the new 1.5pl, 8-color Epson though. Rick "Bill Crocker" wrote in message ... Why would you junk it? Wasn't it still under warranty? Bill Crocker "Robert" wrote in message ... Which Canons will produce decent 4x6s?
Canon i250? i350? i455? i560? "Robert" wrote in message ... We bought a top of the range Epson, after a few months it started to drop ink all over the prints. Spend a little more and get the Canon i960. You will not regret the choice.
I have found that color matching in general is easier to achieve with this particular Canon than my trusty Epson 1280. It is also far more economical to operate. |

If its compatible with your OS, the Epson R200 is a good choice. The street price for an R200 is $100 and you can easily find it cheaper via the web. I just bought an R200 last weekend and I am thrilled with it. It even prints on printable CD/DVDs. |

I had a canon and it died one week after the warranty ran out. Canon was
not interested at all. My last Canon product. Ken "Robert" wrote in message ... We bought a top of the range Epson, after a few months it started to drop ink all over the prints. Several months ago I go an HP 7960. It's a bit more expensive than you
would like, but it has the advantage of being able to produce quite acceptable black and white prints as well as supurb color. Its only problem, for me, is that it is limited to 8-1/2 inch wide paper. If you are not concerned with black and white, there are other printers in the HP Photosmart series that are roughly equivalent. Look for one that uses six colors (e.g.both 57 and 58 ink cartridges).
