You're obviously unaware of the RAW file memory buffering pipeline speed problems in some serious professional cameras which causes some serious shooters who need to operate fast to avoid the use of RAW. You're also obviously unaware that you can set at least most DSLRs to shoot RAW and to use auto modes, a feature which many serious shooters who need to operate fast use. That's why most DSLRs allow so many special customisations to be applied to the auto modes. Not aware of the problems. I have a camera with CF, and extreme III write speed gives capture at something like 5 fps. Plenty for me. You can always go HD video if you want 30 fps. heh heh. If I was going to use any shots for professional prints, I'd want to be sure I had raw for post-processing. If you want to do anything like sharpen, you certainly don't want to do that from an existing jpg. -- Ken Tough |

You don't want to do it from a jpg which has already had in-camera sharpening or much compression applied to it. No problems with those cameras which allow you to output low compression high quality jpgs without sharpening. -- Chris Malcolm DoD #205 IPAB, Informatics, JCMB, King's Buildings, Edinburgh, EH9 3JZ, UK [http://www.dai.ed.ac.uk/homes/cam/] |
