Does one need to self-identify as a photographer to be a
photographer? What does it mean to be a photographer? Just making
photographs is not enough? Of all the people in the world who make
photographs, the iPhone leads all other cameras. Ergo, IF people who
make photographs are photographers, THEN it's not very few but very
many. Indeed, with the advent of the iPhone, "everyone" is a
photographer.

PeterN:
Only in the sense that everybody who adds numbers together is an
accountant.

Not an analogy.

RonC is implying that the words "serious" should precede
photographer. ...

But are you a photographer? A "serious" photographer? What is a
"serious" photographer, anyway, and who is the arbiter? C, Ron?

A “serious” photographer is one who frowns as he does his post
processing.

Well I'm not sure I frown but I squint a lot. ;-) Back in my medium format
days I felt like, except for the bird, sports shooters and such, 35mm was a
joke. I had a color darkroom and never felt inclined to process 35mm very much.
My local 1hr. did a decent job.

it doesn't need a $20 card.

I have a few old, but still functional 512MB CF cards.

i have several 16 & 32 mb cards. they're worthless.

Remember when Smart Cards climbed in value because they were still used in
some electronic systems but were long out of production?

if you mean smart media, they didn't increase in value. they were
destined to fail, and did.

Since you have such innate pricing ability. Tell us the opening street
price of the Nikon D850, without a lens.

Poor Nikon. THey still haven't got the message that cameras with
clunking mirrors are dead.
Ah well, let's hope they don't go down the gurgler before they wake up...

For me, it's the weight. Last year I tested Nikon's 200-500. Optically,
it was fine. It flunked because I could not carry it around for more
than 45 minutes.

You didn't answer my question. Since you are a pricing expert, you
should be able to make an educated guess. If not an educated guess, make
an uneducated one.

Wrong. What I don't have a clue about is how you have such innate
knowledge of everything, after the fact.

you don't have a clue about a lot of things, namely about smart media,
the topic under discussion.
