Default Generic batteries for 300D

Does anyone have any thoughts on BP-511 battery clones?

This site seems to have them for sale at a very cheap price, but I'm
skeptical: http://store.yahoo.com/sterlingtek/l...11-dlc511.html

Point one, proprietary batteries are way overpriced, so don't be suprised if
you see the clones sold for very cheap, 'cos i don't think the proprietary cost
much to make anyway.

OTOH, All i can say is beware. Some generic batteries for mobile phones
exploded and caused injury, and while i don't expect same to happen to you,
just be aware that many of those generic ones are made at very low level of
quality and safety, either to you or your equipment.

By their nature, lithium ion batteries can't leak though, right?

I don't know; I said beware, i didn't make a statement. There's a batteries
newsgroup if you want a more credible answer.

I personally bought 2 generic batteries from www.7dayshop.com in the uk.
Apart from a slightly shorter battery life (they are a few MaH lower than
the canon ones) they are great..

and for the cost of one canon battery you can buy three and get change from
£50!

Well worth the money and i have no issues with them under heavy load either
