Believe it or not, some of us think that dealing with someone we can
count on when there's a problem is worth some money. Silly us!

Very True, then there are those of us who feel compelled to
deal with a local reliable dealer....even if they are a little more
than B&H, most times if asked my local dealer can match a B&H price.

My local dealer is a Ritz store. Not a chance.

That's because you live in the sticks, well -the best local
dealer is 100 miles round trip from my house.

As you can se, no reason.

Ach, computers.

This is the 4th time I order stuff from them, using the same credit card.
Maybe it is due to the large value (~ $6000).

Are you bragging or complaining? Yes, that's likely the reason. It's a
good idea. We do want B&H to stay in business.

Some of us are lucky, "local" dealer is 10 minutes from my house (Calumet.)

Well, sure. Doesn't any sane person. The local dealer used to be marvelous,
Ewald-Clark, in Roanoke, until Ritz bought the place.

Yesterday I made an order for some new equipment at B&H.

B&H and other vendors have become very cautious about credit card
orders.

I am currently in the Philippines doing some missionary work. Almost no
vendor will send a credit card order directly to me. I have to have it
sent to my daughter, who then forwards it FedEx. (Where is that new
18-200mm lens anyway? It arrived at her house on Dec. 28. She is
probably off skiing or something. But I digress.)

It is unfortunate that the dishonesty of a few has made it so
inconvenient for the rest of us.

I've dealt with them for 20 years without a problem. so there's a 10.0
rating for ya.

I'm only asking, because previously they have processed my order within 24
hours.

I live in the sticks too ;-) I equate Ritz with Walmart, I worked for
Ritz at one point. Both places lower the bar in ways that shouldn't be
legal- IMOP.

In some ways my career (photo) would be much easier if I lived closer to
downtown.

My local dealer, who recently went out of business, only sold Nikon cameras
and camera accessories. He simply refused to carry Canon due to some brand
loyalty thing. I have nothing against Nikon, but I have Canon equipment. I
used this dealer for lighting equipment, etc., but when he went out of
business, it really didn't affect me much. Had he sold Canon equipment too,
he'd have gotten several "L" lenses worth of sales from me and at least on
DSLR. Instead, B&H got my business.
