in particular these:
http://tinyurl.com/8a27l
http://tinyurl.com/9krz6
http://tinyurl.com/amfwy
http://tinyurl.com/8xvav
are made with a canon 20d and canon zoom 24-70/2,8.
the others are made with a traditional leica reflex system, except one made
with a polaroid 600se and its mamiya sekor 127/4,7 lens.
i can say, after many months of usage, that the 20d is perfect for any
editorial use: colors are plain and natural, but vivid, resolution is fair
enough for magazines needs, sharpness is not very razorhead like the
macro-elmarit-r 60/2,8 by leica, but can be fairly controlled by the unsharp
command on photoshop. problems raise in very shallow lights, where noise
rapidly increase with iso setting. tridimensional effect of the zoom lens is
very good, it's a quality lens, but heavy, and af is not very quick with
low-contrast objects. i really miss a shorter depth-of-field effect,
expecially because the out-of-focus quality of digital cameras (canon 1ds
markII included) is awful and unnatural compared to that of the leica
lenses.
actually i wouldnt use my 20d -neither any other digital camera- for any
fine-art personal project. digital black&white is artificial and awful, and
it needs a lot of post-production to look not too worse with respect to the
traditional black&white films. this is the reason why i'm not going to give
away my leica system nor my rolleiflex 2,8 nor my sinar 4x5" view camera:
cause it's a way of taking photos that is as far and different from
digiworld as a horseride from a ferrari burning the highway.
