Default Slide scanner tht takes kodak trays?

Was there ever such a beast in the consumer marketplace? It took a whole
kodak tray and did the scanning. I presume autofocus, and some way to
clean the slide...but did this ever exist? I can't imagine it was
successful if it did.

And yes, I know Kodak had one, but that was for Photo CD. I'm thinking
consumer/prosumer.
