Default City Nightscapes + BW

Im looking for ideas also on filters for BW film and night time photography
of busy city streets.
Ive shot a few here in Niagara Falls with and without a yellow filter. Heres
2 with the filter: http://www.astrobri.com/tmax_100_nightscape.htm
http://www.astrobri.com/niagara_fall..._image_2_1.htm

What do most people use, if they even use any at all.
Also, I usaully use my f/stop in the middle to get the most
performance.....does this effect the bright halos I get around the
streetlihgts?
How do I get rid of the halos?

Thanks,
Brian

Try shooting a bit earlier in the evening and use a red filter. this will make
the sky darker yet not force the bright lights to burn out. I've found that
personal printing makes all the difference for me.
Good Luck
