Default what's the difference between CANON USA and GRAY Market

I'm in the USA an I am considering purchasing a Canon 1Ds. It's an
expensive camera. The cheaper version of the Canon 1ds is the IMPORT (gray
market, they're called, I suppose).

The gray market runs about $2000 less than the Canon USA. Can anyone tell me
what the difference between the two are?

thank you,
mon@nom

They are called gray market because the camera body is actually gray (to
denote that it is non USA) as opposed to the black USA body. The gray body
does not keep the extra light out as well hence the lower price.

Then, I guess the USA cameras are black market? Makes sense to me.
