Despite the recent addition of a haze filter to LR I have found the use of Lab space to still be the best way to deal with haze in scenic shots. the dehaze filter in lightroom will do better than anything you can do manually because it mathematically models haze and its effects on the scene. it's *not* just a simple slider tweak. It models a particular type of many different hazes. haze in general. The only control over it is by moving a slider. obviously. the point is that what dehaze does under the hood cannot be replicated by anything you (or anyone else) can do in lab space (or any other space) by tweaking with the sliders. You can believe as you wish. A lot of people like working in LAB, unless for them, there is a better tool. and there is a better tool, dehaze. there is *nothing* anyone can do in lab or any other space to duplicate what the dehaze tool does. can't be done. it's as simple as that. I am not getting into a tool war, as you seem bent on doing. There are a lot of ways to do things in PS. If you prefer one over the pother, fine. But don't be so confrontational, while insisting that your way is the only way. i am not insisting any such thing. you're free to do use any method you want all day long if you want, even if it's substandard. just don't tell others to do so when you don't understand what it is you're talking about. i'm simply saying that it's not possible to do what the dehaze tool does by tweaking sliders, and it isn't. That might be true, but there are still occasions when I prefer my results usin Lab to LR's. -- Regards, Eric Stevens |
