Default Portable lighting 411

years ago, i used to rent a norman portable unit (P200, or something) to use
for location work, but i see that those have completely antiquated. does
anyone know, or use something like that today? i don't want to use an
on-camera strobe, or pile-on attachment, because i want to get off axis when
firing. i have an old 283 i could use with an extension cord and some light
mods, but was wondering what people use now...and one that doesn't break the
bank either!

thanks
