Nikon D70 Doubts.....Question.....

Any opinions would be gratefully appreciated. It's just a body where Nikon went through a lot of trouble to save on costs, including making it in Thailand to save on labour-cost. Making a camera in Thailand maybe doesn't say much about quality, but saving a lot on costs does... If you want a well-built camera, look at the Olympus E-1. It's a bit more expensive but the build-quality difference is very large. Lourens I think that's BS. Think about all the USA made products that have defects. That is were some of the highest production costs reside. More than likely the Thai workers are paying extra attention to getting it right so they can keep their new found jobs, and make the employer Nikon happy,.....you don't think Nikon is doing any QC after the fact on production? -- The joy of a forever Unknown Artist is the mystery and potential of a Blank canvas. This is a provision for the mind's eye. I see the lights go on, but realize of course no one's home. |

Is anyone here other than me, nervous about the fact that the lovely Nikon D70 is made in Thailand instead of Japan??? What's the difference? As long as Nikon honors its warranty, you should have no difficult in the worst case scenerio of the camera being defective. |

I guess you're not old enough to remember the days when made in Japan was junk. I've had my D70 for 3 months and love it. |
