On the subject of the Large Format Chinese film presently available on
ebay, not only do I share John Boy's interest in this film, I'm
curious to know what sort of import duty a US resident would be
reguired to pay, if any.

No duty.

What about on film or paper from Canada?

No duty.

Another of the advantages of this film is that it supports the Communist's
in power in China. Also, it will help to destroy the film industrys in the
US and other countries that allow Christians to freely practice their faith.
Also, this will help Red China to become the super power it desires to
become and someday dictate to the US conditions that we will have to obey to
turn free China (Tiawan) over to them. Yes, by all means join with your
comrades and purchase Communist products to support the eventual take over
by them. Photographers of the world unite. Ric in Wisconsin.

Yeah, like a few purchases by folks reading this newsgroup are going to
make *any* goddamn difference in the larger scheme of things.

Oh, well, at least you've "outed" yourself, with your AOL spelling
abilities and your right-wing ravings that would have been in date, oh,
say about 60 years ago.

Besides, they (the Chinese) are going to take over *anyhow*. I say more
power to them.

variorum text that would be put up on that site.

It is a WASTE OF TIME.

1. A few purchases here, a few purchases there. Eventually you have a
country that exports more than it imports from you.
2. Attacking the messenger instead of the message. Common practice for
liberals. If my so called "ring wing ravings" have been out of date for 60
years, then we must assume your "left wing ravings" are the in thing, and
have been for 60 years.
3. Hmmmm. Sounds like you are in support of the Communists. Ric in
Wisconsin.

The functional, international economy of China is pure capitalism now. But
they are a Demand Economy which makes a difference because the USA's
economical manner is failing in some fundamental regards, in particular
exacerbated by the god almighty quarterly report, the needs and greeds of
stockholders who have no concern whatsoever for larger strategies that can
help us compete internationally.

Also, it will help to destroy the film industrys in the
US and other countries that allow Christians to freely practice their
faith.

Ah, see how he seques into religion as politics.

HEY GUYS
I am not interested in a politically motivated flamewar.
I simply wanted to know if it is worth getting any from someone who has
actually used it.

Don't you read anything, or listen to anything besides right-wing talk
radio? "Communists" in China? Don't make me laugh. I know Communists (my
dad ws one, back in the day). If you haven't been following current
events, as seems the case, the Chinese have embraced capitalism with a
vengeance. Of course with them, it's always with a heavy overlay of
vestigial feudalism and the leftovers of the old Communist structures,
but still, they're practicing market economics, just like most nations.

They're simply beating us at our own game. (Of course, having little in
the way of environmental regs to get in the way of unmitigated greed and
profits doesn't hurt them either.)

I don't know how good the Chinese film is, but if you just looking to save
money. Freestyle has their arista edu film cheaper then the Chinese stuff,
and it great film. I used it.

The Chinese film on ebay is $19+ for 48 sheets. Freestyle has bw iso 100, 50
sheets for $16.99, and shipping is 4.99 for the first $100 purchased. Their
is a $25. min order.

I don't know about the Chinese sheet film, but I have used
Lucky SHD 100 in 135. The best feature was the reloadable
cassettes which were really good ones. The worst feature
was the occasional pinhole in the emulsion. It is possible
that my processing technique contributed to this, but
Kodak, Ilford, Fuji, Agfa, Efke and Svema have never given me
pinholes. I actually kind of liked the look of the film.

You might try buying one box to see how you like it,
It is possible that the pinholes were a QC lapse and
not a regular feature.

Peter.

I won't continue this so called flame debate but will only add that it
depends how you define capitalism. Theirs is in no way free market
capitalism. Companies are partners with the Communist military. Any
business with them is business with the Communists. Ric in Wisconsin.

P.S. I will not continue this discussion, so go ahead and have the last
word.

Oh give me a break. Kodak has unilaterally been
discontinuing film products here in the US HELTER
SKELTER (with no help or encouragement from China.)
And for the sole motive of stock holder DIGITAL
dividends.

Uh...capitalism means profit over quality and always
has. If the only place I could buy film from is
china, I'll buy. Religion has zero to do with it.

I'm told Arista edu ultra is foma, a czech film
( http://www.foma.cz ) if you can read Czechoslovakian...
