Default Computer controlled D50?

Anyone know of a Mac program to control the Nikon D50 other than Nikon
Capture 4.0. I installed the trial of Capture 4.0 when I got the
camera and it reeked havoc on Photoshop and everything else so I
removed it immediately, everything worked fine afterward. Now, three
months later I wanted to see if I could re-install Capture 4 to see
what control was actually available for the D50 (Nikon's website isn't
real informative.) Even though I had removed all the traces of
Capture 4 I could find, the program wouldn't open without purchasing
the key, obviously they've hidden a time lock somewhere. 99 bucks is
annoying but I'd pay it for the camera control if it worked. I just
don't want any of Nikon's other software in my computer. Even the
version that wouldn't open started conflicts with Photoshop. The
conflicts can probably be dealt with one at a time but I don't want to
pay for that kind of time wasting crap. It's also impossible from what
I see to install just the camera control part be it a plug-in or a
separate app.

Any known hacks or suggested places to start looking? Also no interest
in a Canon v Nikon. I still love my cameras.

Thanks in advance!

It works fine with my D70. The raw plugin needs to be deleted to restore
photoshop's raw plugin. You can probably reset the date on your computer
back to test again. There are other programs out there though I don't
know more than that. Capture allows full control of the camera's
settings via usb cable or manual control on the camera. The D70 has a
rather slow connection so it's about a 3 second delay between pictures
(D50 may be better?). There is a time lapse utility within those
limitations.

When you say full control...I'm primarily looking for change of shutter
speed without touching the camera. I can get the bracketed 3 shots
with a remote but I'm looking for a seven shot range in one step
increments with the last shots going as long as multiple minutes. Is
this sort of control possible? I'll give resetting the camera's date a
try as well. Thanks.

Don't know the problem(s) you faced on the MAC. Capture 4.x on XP w/ PS-CS
only did a number on the Adobe RAW modules, but this was easily undone - find
the TWO places that Capture writes the RAW plugin, and replace them both with
the ARC plugin. After this one little correction, both programs co-exist
wonderfully, though I'm prepared to repeat the steps above, when I upgrade
Capture.

As for your main question, I do not know of any other control program, either
MAC, or PC, for the D50.
