First saxophone for a 14 year old boy
I would start him off on alto, definitely not soprano as that requires a lot
more developed muscles around the mouth. Depending on whether he wants to stick at it or just mess around on it i would go for either a low to mid range yamaha. Say the 275 or the 475. Both are excellent horns for new starters, and while he'll outgrow the 275 if he keeps at it, the 475 will last him longer. I still use a 475 soprano and havent had anything go wrong and it gives me everything i want in a sax without the major price of a pro horn. Hope this helps. schnibs "Dallas Dahms" wrote in message oups.com... Hi. I would like to buy a sax for my 14 year old boy. How much should I plan to spend on a basic sax? Any suggestions, brands? Should he begin with soprano, alto, etc... Thanks. Dallas |
