Default Joseph Koudelka

I was going to give a Joseph Koudelka book to a friend for Xmas this
year, and have spent the last hour viewing every book site I could
think of, and googled to infinity and back. Zip. Nada. Nowhere. I
found some copies in England.
Just a reminder of how important devoting your life and creating some
of the best reportage photography in the twentieth century is to this
"culture" of ours. Zip. Good thing JK said that he was not worried or
concerned if his work was even published. What was important was that
the pictures were made. That they existed. And to think, I was worried
about my little stash of snaps.

I hear you, but then I try to remember, it's not about who's watching...

The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has a newly acquired permanent collection
of Koudelka photos that are currently on exhibit. I saw it recently.
They had several Koudelka books, including a fine catalog of the exhibit
itself. The exhibit also included correspondence with and photos of
Koudelka by Sonya Bullaty, who was like a daughter to him, apparently.
She is most responsible for bringing him to the attention of the West.

That photographer is Joseph Sudek. Whom I love. Thank You anyway, wish I
could see that show.

Look in abebooks.com; they seem to have copies of his stuff

available.

Thanks for the lead. They do have a few "Prague" copies. I'm looking
for Gypsies, Exiles, etc. and generally just had to fume at the bleak
landscape of disinterest that befalls such an enormous talent.
