Default Help: Zeiss 1.4/50 mm better than Yashica 1.4/50 mm???

Hi everybody,
I need an "expert" opinion! I've been offered a good price for a Zeiss
lens 1.4/50 mm for my cheap yashica fx camera. At the moment I've got
the 1.4/50 lens by Yashica. Would I really notice better picture
quality if I buy this new lens?? Would the superior quality of Zeiss
be noticeble if I take pictures with my cheap body??

Thank you for advice!

the yashica is a fine lens, but the contax is one of the best ever in that spec
50/1.4...if you can get a clean one under $ 200 - thats a good deal

If your Yashica camera is working properly, that shouldn't be a factor.

The Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 is actually better than tests indicate: It's not
only about resolution/contrast (where the Zeiss 1.7 might even do
better), but the general "look", where the 1.4 is difficult to beat
(though my own favorite is the 35mm f/1.4).

In short, this is about subtle image details. Your technique needs to be
very good before you notice any difference. If you can afford it, great!
If not, more film (as someone suggested) is a very good alternative...
