Image Tank versus used Laptop

You have point. Here is my plans or choices...

1) 5 PCS 1GB Sandisk UltraII from local store 245 eur each
Total 1225 eur

2) 1 PCS 1GB Sandisk UltraII from local store 245 eur AND
Apple iBook 12" (30GB/800MHz version) from local store 1000 eur
Total 1245 eur

Option 1 is ok for general use, but I think that option 2 is much
better. When traveling I can upload lastest pictures to my website
for storage/backup using wlan hotspot or public lan. Also I can
check emails and write down information about pictures.

I'm working with EOS 10D and I can shoot about 200 pictures for
one 1GB flash card. And I have also few 256MB cards for spare use.

But as you say, this is quite personal question, like Nikon vs Canon

I'd stick with option 1. You avoid the eggs in one basket scenario then.

Option 3 then would make more sense.
Get a portable CD burner for $250. Make 2 copies of a full memory card
on CD and never worry about HD or memory card faliure.

As a bonus, you can play music CD's, MP3's & DVD's on the road.

Btw, how could I be sure that cd's are burned correct? I still need a
computer for checking..

Just run a slide show in the hotel room TV, or bring along a small LCD
monitor (I have one for my vehicle).
If you're shooting RAW's, then you'll have to trust the confirmation on
the burner, unless your camera allows for RAW+JPEG.

Exactly. I went through this scenario myself and just decided that the best
way was to have loads of CF cards.

It worked out lighter and more portable as well as avoiding the eggs in one
basket scenario and was something less visible to draw attention from the
villains.
