scanning ... what?
When you-all scan your photos, do you:
a. scan the negative (or slide) directly; or b. print the neg (or slide) at a larger size and scan that ? And, of course, why do you do it that way? (This question has been rattling around in my head for a while, but some of the funny comments in the "Hasselblad 56x42mm 60 mpix" thread prompted me to finally post it.) |

Printing an image results in a loss of dynamic range from the film image. Scanning that results in some resolution loss and further noise. To get a 'good' result from scanning the print, the print would have to be very large ... larger than most scanners. More simply put, the least steps (or transfers the better). Why digital is taking the place of film for more and more photography - such as the 56x24 60 Mpix H3. -- -- r.p.e.35mm user resource: http://www.aliasimages.com/rpe35mmur.htm -- r.p.d.slr-systems: http://www.aliasimages.com/rpdslrsysur.htm -- [SI] gallery & rulz: http://www.pbase.com/shootin -- e-meil: Remove FreeLunch. -- usenet posts from gmail.com and googlemail.com are filtered out. |
