APS-C has hit that brick wall of performance
RichA wrote:
Sorry, but like I figured, there has been no improvement in any APS-C sensor since Canon's 40D and the Nikon D90 appeared. It really does look like sensor technology is now at a standstill. Panasonic's GH1 4/3rds sensor is apparently the best of that bunch and Nikon's D700 (and to be generous, Canon's 5D II sensor) are pretty much the top of the FF heap, at least in-terms of pure image quality and noise control. So where do they go from here? The D5000 is better than the D90, so update that. The 50D was not to my taste, too gritty even at ISO 200, sort of raggy/smoothed/NRd/sharpened default look. 12 megapixels with the right AA filter and dead accurate AF, plus good glass, seems to be about enough for almost any use.
