Default New photo printer

Hmmm, every other company including some of the other paper manufacturers
list the paper thickness or weight or actually I've seen both on the
packaging. Wonder why Epson chooses not to? Curious, probably they don't
want you using someone else's paper other then theirs? They don't want to
share and play nice. LOL

I was shopping around tonight to look for the best price of the 1400 and I
can't get over the wide range of prices. On the net its listed as cheap as
299.99 from both Staples and MicroCenter and as high as 447.38 from of all
places Amazon.

Thanks,

Not4wood

Mac Guy, would happen to know what is the maximum paper weight that the
1400
can take? I have the Ilford Galerie Smooth Pearl paper and its 290gsm
which
is pretty high for a normal standard 8.5X11 Photo Printer. The HP
DeskJet I
have as a standby can't take that heavy a paper.

apparently, Epson does not directly list this spec. I saw some comments
that some paper rated at 260gsm worked.

The R800 is the smallest in Epson's range of UltraChrome pigment
ink printers. It can't easily be compared with any printer that
uses dye-based inks, or one that uses earler generation pigment
inks. This combination of wide colour gamut and print longevity
can't be obtained any more cheaply, as far as I know.

I have the R1800 it was a good printer but I want bigger maybe a 24"
the R1800 drinks ink, plus side is it prints CD & DVD in the tray.

I have a 7600, which is basically that. It drinks ink too, but the
cartridges are much bigger, and the ink works out a lot cheaper. The
7600 has been replaced by the 7800, which is supposed to be a fair bit
better.

Andrew.
