ACDSee 7 ICC Aware?

Does anyone know if ACDSee 7 is ICC aware? Can it recognize an ICC
profile embedded in an image on one computer and translate it to the
ICC profile used on another?

I do not know anything abut ACDsee, but I do know a little about Colour
Management.

If an Image has a Working Space Profile Tagged onto it, then most Colour
Managed aware Program should be able to work with that Profile.

Working Space Profiles such as sRGB, Adobe RGB or ProPhoto, etc, should all
be the same in any program on any computer (a Device), simply because they
are designed to be Device Independant.

What varies from machine to machine are the Device Dependant Profiles, such
as the Monitor Profiles, Printer Profiles & Scanner Profiles.

A Colour Managing Program needs to be able to adjust the data from a
"Tagged" Working Space Profile, using the Device Profiles, so that the
correct colours are shown on screen, and the correct colours are printed.

The program does not change the Profile Tagged onto the Image while doing
this, the conversions are kept within the Program.

You have to be a little careful here because some programs are
partially ICC compliant in that they might recognize a monitor ICC
profile, but they still do not recognize most working space tags ... a
good example is PaintShop Pro IX, which recognizes the monitor profile
but will only accept sRGB as a working space profile ... if your file
is in a wider gamut space this info is dropped (ie, no conversion), so
the colors are screwed up ... the wider the gamut of the missing
working space, the more the colors are screwed.

Not so short answer: Yes, I know, and yes, after you buy and install and
activate the PhotoPro upgrade.

Yes, the PhotoPro upgrade allows emulation when both the profiles are
present. IME, gaps and margins in the gamuts may add/subtract odd hues.
YMMV.

No, though strangely, the add-on programs fotoSlate 4 and their Powerpack
Editor ARE ICC aware. ACDSee V8 isn't aware of it either. However the due
out "soon" (someday soon, I hope) ACDSee Pro Photo Manager (suspiciously
similar to Aperture) WILL be ICC aware.
