Default Olympus devotees deserting brand in droves

It's startling to see the migration on Dpreview of long-time Olympus
users away from the brand. The most common refrain is that Olympus
has deserted the DSLR and people will NOT migrate to micro 4/3rds as a
suitable substitute for a DSLR. Why, for instance would someone
wanting a suitable camera for multivaried tasks buy into micro 4/3rds
when they can buy (for example) a Nikon D7000 and lenses for the same
price? Compactness is one thing, but when a camera system is
outclassed in every way by the competition, the company on the losing
end needs to strongly consider a 180 degree turn. Olympus should do
something radical. Keep micro 4/3rds since it is selling (kind of)
and re-introduce the DSLR's with a 4/3rds format sensor but scaled up,
slightly beyond the surface area of the APS sensor, and scale-up the
lenses from 4/3rds to match them. One this would offer and
alternative to the annoyingly wasteful APS rectangular format and 2,
Olympus could remove the stigma of the smaller sensor which holds no
interest for any shooter except for reasons of compactness.

It seems like only yesterday Olympus was pioneering TTL and
high speed sync strobes -- innovations the major players put
their own stamp on and ran with.

Too bad the company's marketers can't keep pace with the R&D
department...

Take Care,
Dudley

: Olympus marketing is and has been a travesty. Kevin Spacey acting

They're just trying to keep up with that Nikon guy who stepped in the punch
