Default Polaroid 545 back

Here is a foolish question from a newbie. I just purchased a
Polaroid back for my 4 X 5 Omega on Ebay. It looks like this back will
use any Polaroid 4 X 5 sheet film. Will it take Polaroid Type 72 ?

Presumably you have a 545 or 545i back. Type 72 works in
it. You can get all this data from the Polaroid web site:
http://www.polaroid.com although it takes a little poking
around.
If you have the old Type 500 back you can still use it
for current Polaroid films but it will take some care. At
the time the 500 was made Polaroid envelopes had a stop
strip which went entirely across the envelope. The current
films have a strip which does not go to the edges to the
stop tabs in the 500 holder miss it. You can pull the
envelope cover, which forms the "dark slide" completely out
if you don't stop pulling. You can figure out the right
distance by looking at the film envelopes. A PITA but the
500 adaptor will work OK if you don't use much film.
The 545i is the current adaptor, the older 545 is nearly
identical, the differences being mainly some economizing on
the construction of the newer holder.

the web site. They published the owners manual for the 545i back in
Adobe but, I can't find it for the 545.

Be careful with an older 545 holder. I got an older metal one which worked
fine until I used it in my Zone VI with readyloads for the first time.

Unknown to me the metal cleaning latch interfered with the back of the camera.
As a result the holder was lifted about a quarter inch from the back of the camera
and everyone of the ~12 exposures I made was fogged!! The newer plastic holder
doesn't have that problem.
