"Alan Browne" wrote in message .. . How is it at ISO 1600? If it is good, that plus a fast prime, and an antishake body, might be what I need. I've been considering low light, no tripod, no flash solutions for shooting in churches. ....like the rest of us, you'll have to wait as the striptease continues... I would expect that it is similar to the D70/D100 in that respect. It is on a japanese site, but the site is expecting high traffic and is totally inaccessible right now. I managed to get 3/4 of the image down but then my resuming program wouldn't resume anymore, overwriting the file :-P Still, I thought what I saw was pretty good. |

A rugged faced fisherman is best shot in harher light such that his face suggests his hardy life... generally, CW has us shoot the gents in harsher light than the ladies. According to EXIF, that shot did *not* use flash, therefore no softbox. It was 85mm focal length 1/160 second f/1.41 autoexposure at 100 ISO. Need to rotate left 90 degrees, the model is standing. She's doing a great job keeping mostly within the (thin!) focal plane, except for her right elbow. |

She's doing a great job keeping mostly within the (thin!) focal plane, except for her right elbow. 1. Exposure (per the EXIF) was 1/160 @ f/5.6 ISO 100. [[nitpick: a focal __plane__ is infinitely thin... But I take your meaning to be DOF ]] The actual DOF then, rather than being a few cm, is about 15 cm (if she was at 2 m from the lens). (and yes I understood her to be standing for various reasons including the way her hair and jewelry fall...) 2. The shutter speed was 1/160 which is the max x-sync for the camera. The camera would not know if a studio light was used (triggered by PC sync, that is a shutter system dumb contact which the s/w would not know about). EXIF records built-in flash or mounted flash action. 3. It could have been diffused natural light ... the shot is 2.3 stops open from sunny-16. The scene behind the lady suggests outdoor siding so could have been a screened in porch area or similar. Zoom in on her eye and it sure looks like a softbox signature, however ... could be a window also. 4. It 'could' be a hot light, however I doubt it Cheers, Alan -- -- rec.photo.equipment.35mm user resource: -- http://www.aliasimages.com/rpe35mmur.htm -- e-meil: there's no such thing as a FreeLunch.-- |
