That's your evidence? Is this how you reach your conclusions?

I have used an Epson V700 for years and if the results were as bad as
this URL suggests I would have had it fixed years ago.

I'm probably even more skeptical than you are. As well as the unusual
result for that scanner, there are other "teasers" presenting
conclusions without any real information given (so an enlarger lens is
better than a macro lens for slide copying, but which enlarger lens,
which macro lens and used in what manner with which camera?).
The linked article is merely an advertisement to entice the gullible
into buying their "tutorial".
