Maybe his idea is that you're supposed to view it from an appropriate
distance -- say two houses away. ;-)

It may be an example of a very general difference between US and UK
English, that British English is happier to accept meaningful but rare
or novel conjunctions of words provided that they follow the
grammatical rules of word conjunction.
