Monochrome images and RAW
Fotodog wrote:
If you are contemplating a camera for monochrome shooting only, is there any advantage in having RAW capability? Yes. Beginning with shooting in colour to begin with and then processing the channels separately in photoshop afterwards using their channel mixer (includes pre-canned "B&W" filters (red, yellow, blue...). While the recorded dynamic range is the same, raw is smoother than JPG (less compressed in dynamic) and you end up with more to work with on the computer. All DSLR's have raw capability and many "zlr"'s and even many P&S cameras. |
