Yes. It gives you more options in post processing, depending on your RAW
conversion software. You'll be able to lift shadows and recover blown
highlights, at least to some extent, with fewer artefacts than when
working with jpegs. You may also be able to do channel mixer monochrome
conversion with greater bit depth, giving smoother tonality.

If you want to get really carried away, you could probably write yourself
a dedicated monochrome RAW converter, based on Dave Coffin's DCraw.

I've written a few scripts that use it. Ufraw is a good frontend to it.
