exif data on camera
from the thread i posted earlier , a couple of people have said where is
the all exit data for the piccies. Im wondering this to. Is there a option you have to tick in the camera to get it?? i remember when i had my canon g2 the images from that use to come with a text file detailing all the exif data - shutter speed, aperture, expose, iso etc. - but i use to have the g2 d/l the images direct to the computer via its own usb cable and also through its own canon software. these days I use a card reader to get the inmages from the memory card to the computer and they go straight to a folder on my harddrive unmodified. any changes (usually just resizing) i make are usually done in paint shop pro 7 and then the file is saved with a new name. am i doing something wrong here ???? cheers dave |

Most (all?) cameras these days generate EXIF data automatically; it's saved inside the JPEG image files. To access the information, you need software that knows how to pull the fields out of the image file. I'm on a Mac; iPhoto knows how to access a few of the fields, and I use a program called EXIF Viewer to look at the full set. I'm sure there are similar things available on the PC; a Google on 'EXIF' should turn up ample information. -dms |

If you're on windows, right click the file and go to properties. Click
the summary tab and then the advanced button. A fair bit of the Exif data is stored there (all the basic stuff anyway). Also, if you search the web, there are a large number of utilities that will extract exif data, along with the specific bits from your camera manufacturer. Cheers, Dave |

Maybe he has it already. Now, I'm off to sit in my car, 'cause its got a great stereo system. /sarcasm -- Jeff R. |

Perhaps a simpler, less knowledge-intensive hobby would be more to your liking. |
