Mamiya C330 flash
I purchased a Mamiya C330 on ebay to play with. the flash
shoe is "backwards" for my flash units. it looks right compared to the manual but the flash doesn't point forward if you put it in. is there some special adapter I don't know about? |

There's a special technique involved: putting the flash into the hotshoe from the front. This saves the scorched forehead. -- ---------------------------- Paul Friday |

The shoe on the Mamiya TLR system is primarily for mounting accessories. I will assume you know that a cable is required to connect any flash unit to a Mamiya TLR as each lens has its own independent connector. There is no apparent way to "reverse" the shoe on the C330 so yours is probably assembled correctly. All other things being OK, the trouble is likely with the flash shoe, not the camera. I know all my small strobe units fit properly as I tried them tonight. The most common way of mounting flash to the Mamiya TLR is upon a separate bracket, like the TLR hand grip. Truly, dr bob. |

So just buy a flash bracket, you can find them rather cheap now as the kind you need is being sold off as folks go to digital. The kind you need will shift the flash above and forward some what further than brackets designed for slr types so you have some clearance to look down into the viewfinder. |

I have many brackets for my sunpak stuff I can use unlike my commie TLR (lubitel) the mamiya appears designed with extra-camera lighting in mind I was just a little concerned that the taper of the shoe was reverse to what I am used to. 20-20 hindsight, its a lousy spot to put a flash anyways a bracket supports using the flash to light rather than just fill |
