I have a Canon 5D and use the CAnon foot mounted flash 240 I think it
is. The shoe mount is precarious at best and am considering moving to
a Sunpak Super 622. Anybody do this and have a correct module to
interface the Sunpak with Canon DSLR?

B&H gves a module number as SUDMCAF but they don't stock it. No
response from ToCAD the rep for Sunpak.

the sunpak 622 does not support canon e-ttl or nikon i-ttl, regardless
of module. therefore, either use a standard module or a pc cord. you'll
need to match the f/stop and use the sensor on the flash for automatic
exposure.

it's a *really* nice and very powerful flash and the multiple heads are
fun (especially the infrared and ring flash), but unfortunately, it's a
bit limiting because it won't do ttl anymore.

Any other input for something else with the support of the handle? I
am on my third foot for the Canon flash.

i don't know if canon has any handle mount flashes, but metz might make
an e-ttl compatible one.

however, i'd suggest getting a flash bracket and put the flash on that,
which has the added benefit of moving the flash further off camera plus
you can rotate the camera to portrait while keeping the flash over the
lens instead of off to the side. you'll need the canon oc-e3 off camera
cord or equivalent to connect the flash to the hotshoe for e-ttl.
