Default Advice needed

Hi all

Looking for a new P+S Digital, it must be 5 or above MP must have a good
lens I was going to get the Canon G6 which is almost perfect, (7mp also
takes the same battery, memory and even flash as my 20D) but it fails on one
important point. Because of my dodgy eyesight I cannot view the LCD display
so I need a camera that shows the exposure info in the normal viewfinder,
also I don't think holding the camera at arms length to view the LCD is the
most stable way to hold any camera.

Anyone know of a P&S camera that has viewfinder info.

Thanks

Paul

My Fuji S5100 (S5500 in Europe) has only 4mp, but it has a very
good lens and due to the way it's EVF was designed, all of the
exposure and menu information is displayed identically on the LCD
display as well as in the EVF. It's weight is very slightly less
than the G6, but is shaped more like a traditional SLR. Fuji's
S7000 might be what your'e looking for. It's 6.3 mp sensor is a bit
less than the G6's 7.1mp, but well above your 5.0 requirement. It
has a shape similar to the S5100, but weighs about 50% more than the
G6. I assume that it also uses an EVF instead of an optical
viewfinder, and if so, it probably also uses it to duplicate the
information shown on its LCD display. But not having held one, I
can't guarantee that. One nice thing about the S5100. It uses AA
batteries and even if the flash is used a lot, can take several
hundred pictures using alkalines. If the flash is not used,
probably 700 or 800 per set. And NiMH batteries would provide
nearly double that amount. It's zoom is 10x but the one on the
S7000 is only 6x IIRC, but I've heard that it's close macro
photography capability is far better than most other lenses. The
S5100's macro capability is only about average.

Dunno whether that helps you: you can view the exposure info on the top
LCD display of the camera. If you extrude the LCD display you can hold
the cam like an old DLR and see the info on the display and the image on
the extruded display. Of course this gives a different shooting
perspective...

Kind regards

Yep Sony DSC H2 6 mgp....and I think the DSC H5 7 mgp

The H2 has a viewfinder that is actually a small LCD screen. It has an
optical adjustment and all data shows if you want...in the tiny viewfinder.

I didn't know about the focal adjustment for they first day and thought I'd
bought a dog. It is hidden UNDER the viewfinder itself.

Go to a Wal-mart and they will have one on display. I love it. Carry lots
of AA re-charged batteries if you shoot all day, of course. RG

the DSC H2 is about $380.00 at Wal-Mart plus you have to buy a memory card
for another $40 or 60.00 dollars US. RG
