Default Any Digital Camera with a remote or external release function?

Hello,
Does anybody know of any digital camera
that has the capability of firing via remote control,
or by closing a 2 wire switch externally.

If so, what's the dredded "lag time" from
switch close to actual fire?

thanks,
tim

Tons of digitals have wired remotes, and many have wireless.
This is a common thing.

Olympus C750 has a wireless one which I've never used but it's supposed to
be a 2 second lag.

Olympus does that so you can lower your arm after pointing it at the camera
in a self portrait. Canon has wired remotes for all their DSLRs and there
is no additional lag.

The Canon 300D has both IR and 3-wire remote on a mini stereo jack. If
two wires are used (shutter, common) then there will be a tiny amount of
lag for a focus check, maybe 350ms. If three wires are used
(half-press, shutter, common) with an advanced half-press, then the
shutter lag is only the time it takes the mirror to swing up.

The IR remote has a switch for instant or 2 second delay. It acts as an
open/close toggle switch in bulb mode so you don't have to hold the
button down.

It is a common feature among the higher end cameras to have a wireless remote.
A lot of times there is a delay, but some of the newer cameras have an option
to eliminate the delay.

Another option on some Nikons, Canons, and Olympuses (probably others too) is
to be able to pictures on control from a computer via the USB cable.

They also have wireless remotes available

My Olympus C3000 has a wireless remote. Lag time is about two or three
seconds, I'd estimate. Nevertheless its handy for self portraits and
shots where timing isn't a factor (Though even with the shutter button
the lag can be intolerably long on that camera). It's also nice for
browsing pictures when you're viewing them on a TV screen through the
camera.

Out of curiosity does anyone know if the Nikon D70 has a remote, as I'm
looking to purchase one in the near future?
