Obit: Bob Gilka (NG Photo director from '63 to '85).
His main contribution was to focus on photography and turn NG away from static photos to photojournalism showing subjects in a more realistic way. To do this he was less than gentle, but made sure the photographers were endowed with the most important bit of photographic equipment: CASH. QUOTE He commanded both respect and fear.
