A .50 BMG hitting any phone, iPhone or Android is without question, going to destroy it. unless you have one of these: https://newatlas.com/bulletproof-iphone-case-marudai/22195/ The armored case features an inch of solid steel embedded in the back, which is what gives the phone cover its bulletproof ability. To attach the case, the phone has to literally be bolted in using an Allen wrench. Marudai also claim that a bullet hitting one of the bolts will still leave your iPhone undamaged. But while the back of the case is solidly protected, the front screen is still completely uncovered so the phone's touchscreen can still be used. The first question is; why would anybody carry a 4.5 Lb phone? The second is: why wouldn’t you shoot at the screen side of that case? -- Regards, Savageduck |

Not from a .50 BMG, even if you had it behind a ceramic impact plate. Those are pretty good for protection against most .30 cal ammo. -- Regards, Savageduck |

I was thinking more of gear protection in general. It, the phone could protect a tad if an assassin is aiming at your temple though... -- teleportation kills |

That's one mistake Lee Harvey Oswald didn't make ;-) You use facetime all the time right? :-ppp -- teleportation kills |

Both Facetime, and Skype, using either video, and/or audio only calls can be useful, and a valuable tool. I use Facetime, and/or Skype everyday. I have a daily, 20 minute to an hour +, Facetime video call with my 94 year old father. Most of my other calls are are not video, just audio. I have a good friend who lives in Nashville, and is in the music business, he also uses FT and Skype, depending on where he is, and what he might be using, we will speak once or twice a week via FT, or Skype audio call. He uses the Skype ’screen sharing’ feature for business between Nashville and NYC, or Europe. -- Regards, Savageduck |

Other than in a tactical situation, I just never thought of a phone of any type, as a primary target for a shooter using any caliber weapon. and it wasn't all that long ago when phones weighed more than that, and without being able to stop a bullet: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motorola_Bag_Phone Yup! My old Nokia brick wasn’t exactly a lightweight. The second is: why wouldn¹t you shoot at the screen side of that case? because the display would be facing inward when the phone is in the person's pocket. The likelihood of a targeted individual gaining any protection from an armored phone is very small. There also exists the possibility that a .50 BMG hitting the body of a targeted individual, and hitting the screen side of the armored phone as it traverses the body. It is not likely to save the targetted individual. https://www.dropbox.com/s/21w9l2lb766x55g/Target-Aw.jpg -- Regards, Savageduck |

We’ve seen similar dismissals in the past. A Microsoft employee was dismissed after his son posted pictures of the Xbox 360 before its release. The Apple engineer in question had worked at the company for around four years, building the iPhone RF and wireless circuit design. The Verge reached out to Apple to confirm the dismissal, but the company has not yet responded to a request for comment.
