Is it safe to leave it over night ? It's charging in a MH-24 charger.

it's completely safe. the charger will automatically stop charging when
the battery is fully charged.

however, if it doesn't indicate a full charge after a couple of hours,
then the battery is probably defective.

Think that's now what happened, I was expecting it to turn green or something
rather than not blinking.

different chargers have different indicators. nikon uses the
blink/noblink.

Ah right that makes sense I did look at the Nikon website which was uselesss
as it gave no indication of charge time.

it should say a couple of hours somewhere.

Stoped blinking but still amber so assume it's ready after 1 1/2 hours .
I have a few sets of batteriss on charge all AAs in differnt chargers
depending on how urgently I need them.
4 in a 2 hour charger which gets hot to touch if left on too long and another
that takes 14 hours and I leave that on over night, without worrying.

the 14 hour charger is probably timer based and not a good idea to
leave it on all the time, especially if the batteries are not fully
discharged.

the 2 hour charger is almost certainly one that senses end of charge,
otherwise the batteries could ignite.
