Canon S2 IS Return for repair

I posted last week that I was having a problem with the LCD monitor and the
EVF on the camera. I couldn't use the LCD outside at all, even on a cloudy
day and the EVF was fuzzy inside and unusable outside. I sent an e-mail
describing the condition to Canon and was advised to send it in for repair.
I am mailing it today and am wondering when I can realistically expect it
back. The return e-mail that I got said that repairs are usually "completed
within 14 days business days of the camera's arrival at the Factory Service
Center".

Has anyone sent a camera to the Factory Service Center in Illinois? If so,
what has been your experience? The e-mail also said that I was "welcome to
contact us for repair updates" and listed a phone number. Has anyone used
this for updates? Do they really give valid information or just "it's being
worked on" type responses.
