Value / Pricing Help?
Greetings!
I am considering selling my old Cannon camera, various lenses, filters, equip. Does anyone have any recommendations on Web sites or magazines that will provide me with benchmark values for my stuff? TIA! -- Dave |

Try the used department at www.keh.com ... look at what their selling price is and consider yourself lucky to get that high (unless you find someone with eBay auction fever). Look at what they are willing to pay you for your used gear and use that as a minimum. Most likely you'll be able to sell your gear somewhere between those two prices. Bill |

www.keh.com
Has a used equipment calculator. Keh is a useless guide for an individual selling used gear because the "calculator" at Keh.com factors in their profit margin before resale, you may have a lense that Keh tell you is worth 200 , when they can turn around and sell it for 300. They are a middle man and as such cannot be used as an accurate guide for an individual reselling. "Rich Pos" wrote in message ... On Mon, 20 Sep 2004 14:56:48 -0700, "Dave" wrote: Greetings! Has a used equipment calculator. From: "Joseph Kewfi" Keh is a useless guide for an individual selling used gear because the "calculator" at Keh.com factors in their profit margin before resale Disagree ... it's useful because you find the minimum price you could sell it for (what KEH will pay you) and you also get an idea of what's it's reasonably worth (what KEH will sell it for ... which you can also look up). you may have a lense that Keh tell you is worth 200 , when they can turn around and sell it for 300. Exactly ... so you know it's worth a minimum of $200 if you go the no-hassle route and sell it to them (minimum value), and you know that you would likely not be able to sell it for more than $300 if the buyer were smart enough to check a site like KEH for used gear since he'd be better off buying the same item from them because of their warranty. In this case you should be able to get $280 or so, and anything over $300 would be a real sweet deal for you (and a dumb move for the person buying it from you ... but often you get lucky, especially with auctions). Another good source of info is probably the eBay listings for completed auctions, by the way. |

Imagine you've put every item on ebay using Keh's buy price as reserve. Then look up how they sold recently. Then put it up to end on a Sunday evening. Bob Hickey |
