Canon vs. Panasonic experiment
Needed a good "pocket" camera. Bought a Panasonic FX7 and a (discontinued)
Canon S500. (I'll take the "loser" back.) Took several shots of the same subjects, using the same settings, with both and printed them. ALL of the Canon's came out with more detail. Also noticed that the Panasonic makes a strange sound when retracting its lense. And it just plain looks and "feels" cheap compared to the old Canon. I went into this favoring the FX7 so I'm a little surprised - and disappointed. Another plus for the S500: It cost $225, WITH the $70 accessory package which includes an extra battery. Sure would like to hear from some of you experts. -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users. It has removed 504 spam emails to date. I tried blowing up a really small detail in one of the Canon pix and got
surprising good results. "Morton Linder" wrote in message ... wrote: Needed a good "pocket" camera. Bought a Panasonic FX7 and a (discontinued) Canon S500. (I'll take the "loser" back.) I can also crop a bit and still get excellent results. The only time I notice digital "noise" is when shooting flash from a long distance, e.g. 20' or more. A good camera includes a good sensor, a good lens, and good software. Not all cameras have all 3. Morton -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users.
